The 16u Braves American team went 4-1 this past weekend to finish 3rd at the Impact 16u Wood Bat Championship in Winston Salem, NC this weekend. 25 teams participated in this early season championship. Coach Caudle’s team wasted no time in setting the bar for the other 4 Braves 16 u teams to follow. Great job for the first action of the summer!

This past weekend (June 2-3) The Richmond Braves officially kicked off the summer travel ball season with the 10th annual Braves Scout Days. The two-day jamboree on June 2-3 was held at The Virginia Sports Complex in Ruther Glen. Greenbrier Christian senior pitcher Matt Matthews out dueled Cape Henry star pitcher Jack Wynkoop in the TCIS Championship game at Old Dominion. Matthews threw a masterpiece 10 innings allowing no earned runs and striking out nine. He didn’t register any 90+ fastballs on the ODU scoreboard radar gun but he threw enough breaking balls to last the rest of the season.
