It’s almost spring! I hope you are as excited for high school ball as I am. Over the next few months, we will get to see the fruit of your players’ hard work and dedication this winter.
As we draw near to the spring, there are some things that you can be doing to prepare to take advantage of the spring season when it comes to recruiting! So let’s dive in:
#1: Make your Schedule Available
First and foremost, as soon as your player is given his HS schedule, he should begin to make it available to coaches. If he is in communication with any programs, he should send it to those coaches. This is also a great time to shoot out an email to schools you are interested in, with some updated video and the schedule.
Also, have your player post the schedule on his Twitter, and PIN it to the top of his profile (if you need help with this just text me). This way, if a coach sees something he likes on Twitter, the schedule will be easily found.
Lastly, please send me your schedule!!! My email is dustin@bravesmail.com.
#2: Make a Plan for Video Content
We live in a recruiting climate where video is necessary to draw attention in many ways. The spring season is a great opportunity to gather some of this video. The trick, then, is making a plan for how you will get this video. Highlight clips of one at bat, swing, or pitch are great for Twitter, but what we want to get from the spring season is more LONG FORM content. This means videoing entire AB’s, entire innings on the mound, etc. These videos should so the swings and misses and balls, not just the doubles and the strikes thrown. We want to simulate the coach being AT the game.
Keep an eye out soon for a Zoom call we will do regarding the best way to make this happen. Hint: it’s your cell phone, a tripod that can connect to a fence, and YOUTUBE!
#3: Take Advantage of New Recruiting Platforms and Opportunities
As we get closer to the summer, we will be rolling out our new, state of the art recruiting platform! Check back here in the VIP portal often.
Lastly, don’t hesitate to reach out! I want to hear from you and your players and walk through this together!
