Roanoke, VA – The 13U Richmond Braves National Squad were still celebrating their 13U state championship as they traveled west this weekend for the USSSA 14U State Tournament. This team is no stranger to playing up an age group and they showed that on Saturday, by going 2-0 and securing the #2 Seed going into Sunday bracket play. The Braves cruised through the semi-final with offensive firepower and stellar play on defense. In what is becoming this groups calling card, a total team effort vaulted the Braves into the championship game for a showdown with the over-sized Broadway Bandits! The ship turned out to be a battle royale that would run into extra innings before the dust settled and the Braves scored the winning run for an 8-7 victory and back-to-back State Championships. The Braves outscored their older opponents 39-15 on the way to bringing home the organizations 36th State Championship. The victory runs their record against 14U competition to 15-4 and presents an exciting outlook for the rising 14U team in 2013.
