Congratulations to the Richmond Braves National for defending their title by winning the USSSA Fall State Championship in Prince George, VA! The Braves extend their winning streak to 35 games dating back to May 2012, picking up 8 straight tournament championships along the way.
Finishing the 2012 season with a National title and ranked #6 in the country this Braves team set a very high standard. With the jump to the larger field there were questions about how the team would handle the transition. Based upon the 12-0 start and three early championships it looks like this team has a chance to pick up right where it left off. With a deep pitching staff and plenty of athleticism the 13u Braves have shown that it’s going to be tough to score runs on them, giving up just 20 in the first 12 games combined. The offense has adjusted well without the long ball scoring 92 runs in those same 12 games. The Braves have yet to play at full strength as they deal with injuries but will continue to improve and once they heal up…the sky is the limit!
The 13u Braves will take a week off and then start an exciting stretch of challenging 13u and 14u tournaments to complete the fall season. Go Braves!
