We hope everyone has had a productive fall. It is now time to start your winter workouts. Spring tryouts will be here before you know it and summer shortly after. If you are 15 or older and serious about college baseball, there is no time off. There are thousands of players all over the country with similar goals of playing college baseball and beyond. You need to spend the next couple of years working everyday making yourself stronger, faster and throwing the ball harder.
If you are a pitcher, than your goal should be 88 mph or better. If you do this, you will play Division 1 baseball. Anything less, then you’re wishing and hoping. A position players should try to be sub 7.0 sec., have bat speed in the upper 80′s and velo in the mid to upper 80′s. If you ever wonder why one guy commits to a Division 1 school and another guy does not, look at the numbers. The guys who throw the hardest, hit consistently and run the fastest commit first.
We want each of you to have a chance to play college baseball. Although, most of your work is done on an individual bases, we understand the need for high end specialized training. We are almost ready to open up “The Farm” (Braves training facility). We are just waiting on the turf to arrive. The Farm is set up specifically for Braves specialized training. The Invincible throwing program will get your velocity up, safely. The “Launch Tec” hitting program will increase bat speed and power. The catching, MIF and CIF clinics will put you far ahead of the average player.
We have some of the finest coaches and trainers in the Mid Atlantic. Coach Jeff Roberts has devoted the last 15 years studying everything there is to know about throwing a baseball. He has developed the “Invincible” program through working with various instructors and his two sons, which both throw 95 mph. Jeff is the only one my son works with in the off season.
Coach Meade Langhorne, who played at the University of Richmond and was drafted by the Kansas City Royals, developed the “Launch Tec” hitting program. Coach Langhorne, Coach Rusty Stadler, who played at VA Tech, and Jacob Mayers who played at the University of Richmond and is currently a 3rd baseman in the Diamondbacks organization, will be teaching you how to attack the baseball.
Coach Darrin Campbell will be heading up the catching clinics. He played professionally with the White Sox and Indians for six years. He is the best catching instructor I have ever seen. If you catch, you need to hear what he has to say.
Coaches Ty Rivers, who played 4 years at Radford, Kizuko Scott, who played 4 years at Liberty and Jacob Mayers (listed above) will be conducting the MIF/CIF clinics. If you are an infielder, you need to attend these specialized positional workouts. You can find information and dates for the Invincible program at D1draftable.com. You can register for the hitting, catching and MIF/CIF clinics at http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?llr=no5btlhab&oeidk=a07e8i7nfwc168ab068 .
Very few programs play as much ball as The Braves. Even fewer provide the speicalized training we have to offer. We have helped well over 200 players move on to college baseball in the last 5 years alone, with over 120 of them Division 1. We know what it takes to get there, we just hope you will put in the work.
If you are interested in private lessons, please contact me at tommy@bravesmail.com. I will direct you to someone that can help. Tryouts begin next weekend, so spread the word. If you received a summer invite, you do not need to tryout. The first Launch Tec hitting session starts Sunday, November 10th.
