VB Hurricanes Invitational Champions
The newly formed Richmond Braves National 12u kicked off their first season together by winning the “Hurricanes Invitational” in Virginia Beach, VA. Following the lead set by last year’s team the Braves swept the tournament going 5-0 and outscoring their opponents 52-9. In scoring those 52 runs this group powered their way to 48 hits, including 13 doubles, 1 triple and 6 home runs! Better still may have been the pitching and defense as the Braves staff walked only 7 batters, striking out 37, while the defense behind them had only 3 errors! This group hopes to compete regionally through March and then step out and see if it has what it takes to compete with some of the better national teams later this spring. There are high expectations for this group and hopes for an exciting and successful season.
