The Early Spring version of the Braves 14U National and American squads went to the Virginia Sports Complex for an early season warm-up at their 2nd Annual Line Drive Classic. Both teams worked their way through pool and bracket play, and when the dust cleared, the two teams met in an All-Braves final. While the National squad pulled away to claim the gold, both teams accomplished the task at hand by taking advantage of the great weather to knock the snow off their cleats and play a full weekend of competitive baseball. Early signs show that off-season workouts and selective roster additions, have strengthened a 14U group that set the bar high with a strong Fall season. Summer can’t get here fast enough…

Braves 14u North Win Diamond Kings

One weekend of cold, wind, and snow wasn’t enough for the new look 14U Richmond Braves North team; they decided to take the field again. Saturday offered the warmest weather of the two days and saw the Braves go 2-0 earning the second seed for Sunday’s elimination play and a trip into the semifinals. Sunday, however, was a battle from the start. Temperatures were holding in the mid 30′s with the wind chill, and just holding the bat was a challenge. After winning their first game through a run shortened slaughter rule game the Braves found themselves against the 1 seed Central VA Rams. The Rams had only given up 3 runs total runs en-route to a 3-0 record. The Rams had an early lead 2-1 before the Braves took charge of the game. When the final out was registered, the Braves won their second championship in as many weeks 11-2. This championship was a true team effort.

The Braves scored a total of 53 runs and used 9 different pitchers. Congratulations to Mike, Ray, Brent, Brenton, Ryan, Tyler T, Kyle, Tommy, Tyler S, Cole, Trey, and Tanner.
