Start time / Venue changes to Dec. 4 tryout at Diamond Elite in NoVA

Due to the large number of registrants for this tryout and a favorable weather forecast for Sunday, we have made changes in both the start time and location. We will start the tryout outdoors at 11:30 am at Farmwell Middle School located at 44281 Gloucester Parkway in Ashburn. Check in will begin at 11:00 am.  We will conduct the 60 yard dash and record infield/outfield throwing velocities on the field at Farmwell MS.  Upon completion of the running and throwing phases we will move the tryout back to Diamond Elite indoor facility to conduct the hitting and pitching elements of the tryout.

What to bring: Please bring cleats for outside and sneakers/turfs for indoors. Wear baseball pants and sleeves for the outdoor portion. You will be given a numbered souvenir tee shirt to wear at the event.

ODU SHOWCASE CANCELED: Due to poor field conditions and the forecast for heavy rains into Saturday in the Norfolk area, the team showcase scheduled for Sept. 24-25 at Old Dominion University and surrounding fields has been CANCELED. Please don’t forget to cancel your hotel  reservations as necessary.

College Commitment: Charlie Yorgen to play for ECU

Charlie Yorgen SS (2013) Commits to ECU

Charlie Yorgen (SS, 2013) has committed to play baseball for East Carolina University. The slick fielding shortstop from St. Christopher’s School in Richmond had considered several other schools before making his choice. “Charlie has a chance to make an impact right away at ECU”, according to Tommy Mayers, National Director of the Richmond Braves. “His footwork and arm actions are advanced. He will be in the mix from the start and if he delivers with his bat, he’s got a good chance to start for four years. Charlie’s also going to get much stronger and  his big upside will be hitting for more power in college.”  Congratulations to Charlie and his family.

College Commitment: Jason Stafford to play at VMI

Jason Stafford, at 6-7 right handed pitcher from Jefferson Forest High School has committed to play at Virginia Military Institute. ” Jason has big upside potential,”  says Tommy Mayers, National Director of the Richmond Braves. “Once he fills out his tall, angular frame he is going to be even more imposing than he is now on the mound. I am confident that the VMI staff will mold him into an eventual pro prospect and help him reach his full potential.” Congratulations to Jason and his family!

This Weekend: Longwood/H-SC Showcase & NTIS Finals

After a brief lull to recharge and rearm our Richmond Braves teams for the fall campaign the season officially gets underway with a team showcase at Longwood University/Hampden-Sydney College on September 10-11. All 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U teams will see action in the event.

The Richmond Braves are pleased to report that Dominic Fazio, a 2012 catcher from Pittsburgh and long time Richmond Braves prospect has committed to play at High Point University in North Carolina. “Dom has been as consistent as any player on the Braves over the last couple of years” says Braves team president, Tommy Mayers. “He is absolutely unflappable. Time after time he has come through in the clutch with a key hit or a shutdown outing on the mound. We are delighted he will be playing D1 baseball at High Point and look forward to watching his development as a catcher.” Congratulations to Dom and his family!

The Richmond Braves are pleased to announce that Bryce Harman, a talented left-handed first baseman and pitcher from Chesterfield, Virginia has committed to play at East Carolina. “Bryce is going to make a big impact at the next level. He has worked hard to make himself a great power hitter,” says Braves co-founder Tommy Mayers. “Bryce’s size and power will play well at ECU. This is an excellent fit and we  know he will  flourish in Conference USA with the Pirates.”  Congratulations to Bryce and his family.

Tryouts: Braves Regional Tryouts Begin in August

If you have the talent and burning desire to become a top baseball prospect and play college or professional baseball someday, you belong in a Braves uniform.
The Richmond Braves National baseball teams are holding a month long series of open tryouts at regional locations across Virginia in August and you’re invited!

Richmond Braves National Baseball is no ordinary travel baseball program and our annual August tryouts are no ordinary tryouts.
Our one day tryout camp is your chance to get an up close and personal view of elite level amateur baseball. If you dream of playing in college or the pros don’t miss this opportunity to join one of America’s top ranked College Development Programs. You’ll be given every opportunity to show us you have the right stuff to play for our nationally acclaimed program. You’ll showcase your speed, arm strength and hitting ability in front of the Richmond Braves National coaches and scouts.  In other words, you will be evaluated to see if you have the specific skills required to become a bona fide D1/Draftable prospect.

Who should attend?
Accomplished, motivated baseball players who want to play college and/or professional baseball and are interested in being evaluated for a Fall 2011/Summer 2012 roster spot in the nationally renowned  Richmond Braves college development program.

What can players expect at the workout?
Each player will participate in a series of events that are considered the gold standards of professional baseball combines and tryouts.

What can players expect after the workout?
Each player will receive a player evaluation report card that includes his personal results from the event.
