Charlie Yorgen (SS, 2013) has committed to play baseball for East Carolina University. The slick fielding shortstop from St. Christopher’s School in Richmond had considered several other schools before making his choice. “Charlie has a chance to make an impact right away at ECU”, according to Tommy Mayers, National Director of the Richmond Braves. “His footwork and arm actions are advanced. He will be in the mix from the start and if he delivers with his bat, he’s got a good chance to start for four years. The Richmond Braves are pleased to report that Dominic Fazio, a 2012 catcher from Pittsburgh and long time Richmond Braves prospect has committed to play at High Point University in North Carolina. “Dom has been as consistent as any player on the Braves over the last couple of years” says Braves team president, Tommy Mayers. “He is absolutely unflappable. The first Richmond Brave in the class of 2013 to commit to play college baseball is Austin Nicely, a talented lefty from Spotswood High School who has committed to attend the University of Virginia. Nicely is expected to play both ways for the Cavaliers. “We are delighted that Austin is staying in state to play” says Braves founder Tommy Mayers. “He was heavily recruited by several of the top baseball schools in the south. He is an exceptional athlete with all the tools to become a top performer at the next level.
